INTRODUCTION – WORKS WING:

Since PASSCO was assigned the role of maintaining the strategic reserves of wheat for national food Security for which construction of Godowns was mandatory. Therefore, the “Works Wing” was established in 1974 with the commencement of PASSCO operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

a)      Construction of storage facilities i.e. house type godowns, silos and allied facilities.

b)      Periodic/Regular maintenance of godowns and all PASSCO assets.

c)       Construction of temporary plinths for storage of wheat.

d)      Assist in hiring of sites for plinths.

e)      Rehabilitation of godowns construction under USAID.

f)       Provide consultancy/ Repair services to Punjab Food Department.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

a)      Construction of 6 X Stories PASSCO Plaza with in the stipulated time period.

b)      Maintenance of PASSCO plaza according to internal safety standards.

c)      Excellent maintenance to 35 years old godowns without a trace of water leakage from roof and walls.

d)      Preparation of PC-1’s for house type godowns, steel silos, etc

FUTURE VISION:

Since PASSCO is having the shortage of covered storage (only 22 % of its total requirement) therefor the Works Wing in coordination with the higher management, is trying to achieve a breakthrough in the construction field. PC-1 for the same has been approved and hopefully the construction process will be started in the current year.
